Dear Fellow Patriots,
While perusing the Articles of Confederation, Article 5 caught my attention:
“For the most convenient management of the general interests of the United States, delegates shall be annually appointed in such manner as the legislatures of each State shall direct, to meet in Congress on the first Monday in November, in every year, with a power reserved to each State to recall its delegates, or any of them, at anytime within the year, and to send others in their stead for the remainder of the year.” That’s the first paragraph of Article 5.
When the “new” Constitution was ratified this paragraph was deleted. Because of the tremendous change our country has gone through and the approval rate of government is down to 20 percent. It appears that instituting something similar to the above merits some thought. A great campaign issue promising a method to eradicate malfeasance in the federal government would be a winner for anyone using it while campaigning.
Thought provoking idea: OFFICE of IMPEACHMENT. Each State would select a representative to meet with 49 others in the month of November in Washington D.C. for the purpose of impeaching those who have violated their oath; unethical behavior, criminal activity. . .etc. The States would have subpoena power. By the time representatives met they would have accumulated evidence of wrong doing. The three branches of government would have no say-so whatsoever – not even a presidential pardon or court interference. Once relieved as a representative he/she would be subject for indictment back home. Again, if convicted – no presidential pardon. The method of replacing people would be as it stands today – by the governor of the State.
Amending the Constitution as a new amendment would take time. Adding it to the existing 10th Amendment, if possible, might be less time-consuming. The purpose is to use it as campaign issue which would attract the attention of many disgruntled voters. They would love this type of an issue. Imagine, a constitutional method of ridding unscrupulous politicians in ANY government entity, absent the other three branches of government. You watch the effect this would have in restoring a Constitutional Republic.
Please let give me your comment on how you feel about this approach and if we should amend our Constitution accordingly.

Simple: to bring power back to the states and the people, where it belongs. Unelected bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. shouldn’t be allowed to make sweeping decisions that impact millions of Americans. But right now, they do. So it all boils down to one question: Who do you think should decide what’s best for you and your family? You, or the feds? We’d vote for the American people every single time.
