We believe its time to get back to basics in education. We need to reform and restructure our educational system from limiting the Federal governments role and regulations to the role of States and taxation methods. Our children's education belongs in the hands of the family and their community not government. Our families and children from grade school through college deserve a more open and responsive educational system with greater freedom of choice in the type of schooling at affordable cost.
We further believe that the Federal Governments Department of Education should be abolished and the funds it receives put back in the hands of the States and the people of those states. Since the inception of the DOE, under the Jimmy Carter Administration, our educational standards and ranking throughout the world has steadily worsened. The growth of charter schools and home education over the past several years has by far and away outperformed the level of students attending public schools. This fact is further proof that there is no place for the Federal government in the role of educator or supervisor of our educational system. This is better left to the community or parents.
